Vintage Pair of Imperial Yellow Famille Rose Lidded Ginger Jars
This authentic pair of hand-painted imperial yellow porcelain ginger jars was made in the town of Jingdezhen, China. Jingdezhen porcelain is well known all over the world. This is lidded and adorned with a lotus flower design and four Chinese character medallions: ‘Wan’ 萬, Shou’ 壽, ‘Wu’ 無 and ‘Jiang’ 疆 - 万寿无疆, which translates as boundless longevity or everlasting life.
Each ginger jar is 6 inches in height and 5 inches wide. The first jar pictured weighs 1 lb. 4 oz. The second jar weighs 1 lbs. 1 oz. Overall they are in very good condition, although the lid on the second jar was repaired at some point due to breakage.
This pair of jars has been appraised by Peter Combs of Gloucester, MA. Peter is a world renowned appraiser and dealer of Asian Antiques and Fine Art for the past 40 years. He is also an auctioneer who has been licensed in the state of Massachusetts since 1989. The appraised value of the jars alone is between $75-$90.
